Organisational Structure of the BCB
The Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg (BCB) was founded in 2008. The primary aim of the BCB is a holistic approach to therapy for chronically ill patients suffering from Lyme disease and as second centre in the North (besides the BCA in Augsburg as the centre in the South). The BCB is a business division of the Health Resort and Convention Hotel City of Blankenburg GmbH & Co. KG.
The following reside and cooperate in the former "polyclinic" Blankenburg under the trade name BCB
1. an organisational and economically independent "Medical Partnership" (responsible for all medical services according to the medical professional code of conduct) an
2. the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg (as a division of the Health Resort and Convention Hotel City of Blankenburg GmbH & Co. KG.) with the divisions supporting "accompanying therapies" and day medical clinic ("Lyme Disease Intensive Treatment and Rehabilitation Program") as well as the laboratory cooperation with the laboratory specialised in tick-borne diseases of the Borreliose Centrum Augsburg.
Note about the organisation and services by the BCB:
The medical partnership Gabel & Dr. Reinsch is an independent legal entity in terms of human resources, organisation and economy, which treats patients under the roof of the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg. All medical services (diagnosis, medical therapies and medical therapy assistance) are provided by the attending physicians of the "medical partnership" and patients are privately billed by the private practice (according to the professional code of conduct of physicians in Saxony-Anhalt).
All other services are provided and invoiced by the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg as an also separate legal entity of the Health Resort and Convention Hotel City of Blankenburg GmbH & Co. KG. This GmbH & Co. KG is the operator of this internet website.
Our staff will inform you in more details about which services are invoiced by the "medical partnership" and the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg and what amounts you can possibly claim from your health insurance. We have generally noted that many health insurances, regarding the new development in the health sector special diseases such as chronic Lyme disease, do not recognise these and hence refuse a partial or complete rebate or subsidisation of services.
In terms of the holistic therapy approach to tick-borne diseases and possible co-infections we expect a broad and competent range of medical services from the physicians cooperating with us (the medical partnership in Blankenburg as well as other physicians in Germany and Europe). The medical services should at least contain the following:
- Diagnosis with extensive anamnesis and physical examination (incl. checking for co-infections and differential diagnosis)
- Determination of necessary laboratory services and analysis of the laboratory findings in the range of the diagnosis
- Taking of blood samples, technical examination (ultrasound, electrocardiogram etc.), infusions
- Development of therapy plans according to ILADS guidelines and the recommendations of the German Borreliose Society e.V. (incl. necessary "accompanying therapies", change of diet, selected dietary supplements, necessary self help measures of patients)
- Prescription of medication and therapies
- Various consultations with the attending physician with consultation services and other necessary examinations (therapy improvements)
- Referral letter, doctor's notes, medical letters, etc.
The attending physician can only recommend a therapy within the range of medical services. It is the patient's decision to purchase therapy services from the range of services offered by the BCA GmbH & Co. KG or from others (pharmacy, etc.).
Note on the claim policies regarding health insurances:
- Laboratory services are provided by the with us cooperating Laboratory of the BCA and are directly invoiced to the patient on a private basis.
- On demand patients can be provided with an estimation of costs. Thus the patient can find out beforehand from his compulsory or private health insurance company which costs would presumably be covered.
- Under question 4 of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) you can find three scientific articles supporting the diagnosis and therapy methods of the BCB.
- The „Accompanying therapies“ described on the website of the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg are only reimburseable (partial or complete) if prescribed by a physician.
- Note: Medical services are only provided and invoiced by the Medical Partnership on a private basis.
