Welcome to the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg!

Since September 2009 we also offer our range of services in the second "Centrum" (centre) in the heart of the health region Harz in the newly renovated "poli-clinic" in Blankenburg.

The Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg (BCB) is a specialised and holistic medical treatment facility with its main focus on tick-borne diseases (infections).  The BCB fully complies with the standards of the BCA (Augsburg, www.b-c-a.de) and combines diagnosis, laboratory, therapy and rehabilitation in a unique way.

Basic, holistic approach to therapy (e.g. in cases of chronic Lyme disease – overwiew)

Several measures are important during a chronic Lyme disease with strong ailment syptoms (including psychosomatic symptoms and ailments) besides killing the pathogens (Lyme-Borrelia, usually with antibiotics).  These measures include reducing chronic inflammations, strengthening of the immune system and the body's immune defences as well as improvement of body functions (including organ functions).

Basis: Treatment with antibiotics (“Augsburg Scheme” for several weeks/months – in accordance to the guidelines of ILADS)

+ supporting “Accompanying therapies”, such as

  • Module “Milieu corrections (incl. deacidification & detoxification + change of diet“
  • Module “Dietary supplements + naturopathic remedies”
  • Module “Physiotherapies + electro therapies“
  • Module "Pain therapy“
  • Module "Mental coaching “
  • Package "Gain vitality“: Rehabilitation and strengthening of the immune system

+ "Change of life style“ (measures for "Self care" by patients)

Organisational Note:  The following reside and cooperate in the former "polyclinic" Blankenburg under the trade name BCB

a) an organisational and economically independent "Medical Partnership" (responsible for all medical services according to the medical professional code of conduct) and

b) the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg (as a division of the Health Resort and Convention Hotel City of Blankenburg GmbH & Co. KG) with the divisions supporting "accompanying therapies" and day medical clinic ("Lyme Disease Intensive Treatment and Rehabilitation Program") as well as the laboratory cooperation with the laboratory specialsed in tick-borne diseases of the Borreliose Centrum Augsburg.

More information of the organisational structure of the BCB can be found undefinedhere.

The BCB as the "Borreliose Centrum North" cooperates with the BCA in Augsburg (South) and with other physicians on a regional, national and internation level (Germany/EU/Internationl) and supports those in terms of their patients in the diagnosis and therapy of tick-borne diseases and possible co-infections.  One focus of our online service is information about the therapy (incl. the necessity of the ILADS approach to chronic Lyme disease - special antibiotic schemes and more).  Another focus is on the various possibilities for a successful therapy implementation in the BCB (incl. "accompanying therapies", change of diet, dietary supplements & naturopathic remedies, "intensive treatment", "self help" measures, etc.)

We expect that physicians specialised in Lyme disease (incl. your GP/attending physician) take your concerns and disease serious and listen to you.  We know that Lyme disease is very often misjudged and chronically ill patients are falsely categorised as mentally unstable and depressive.

Our physicians are responsible for providing all medical services (diagnosis & therapy).  For this reason the "Medical Partnership Blankenburg for rehabilitation, chronic inflammation illnesses and health prevention Gabel & Dr. Reinsch (in the course of formation) is available in Blankenburg.  The chief physician is Mr. Hans-Peter Gabel (M.D.), who is also supported by Carsten Nicolaus (M.D., PhD) until the end of 2009.

Diagnosis: The physicians of the Medical Partnership perform a detailed anamnesis and induce special tests (blood analysis) to diagnose Borrelia bacteria and co-infections. They are experienced in comparing Lyme-disease with other, similar disease patterns.

Therapies:  The physicians are trained to treat chronically ill patients (especially long-term patients), are experienced in pain therapy and "mental coaching" and diagnose and treat holistically according to the ILADS guidelines (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society, USA, undefinedwww.ilads.org) and the recommendations of the German Borreliosis Society e.V.

The main aim is the "detection" and "fighting" of Borrelia bacteria and possible other co-infections (bacteria and viruses).  This is a complex matter in case of chronic Lyme disease and usually requires a long-term antibiosis with high dosages of antibiotics over several months.  We are happy to send you detailed information about the treatment, if your GP is unsure about such therapies.  Under "undefinedNews" and question 4 of the FAQs you will find specific articles to download.

In case of chronic progressions of Lyme disease the importance of treating chronic inflammations is often underestimated.  Chronic inflammations are responsible for the ailments and pain in most cases.  It is also essential to restore the weakened immune defense and reactive it.  From our experience accompanying therapies are necessary in addition to the antibiotic treatment.  More information is under undefinedTherapies.

In Germany, Europe and on an international level, the two treatment centres in the South (BCA in Augsburg) and in the North (BCB in Blankenburg) have successfully gained attention as medical institutions for tick-borne diseases.  The therapy of Lyme disease and its associated co-infections according to the standards and guidelines of the BCA is not limited to an antibiotic treatment only (special infusion treatment in the service range of the physicians).

The Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg offers in addition to the medical services a wide range of supporting "accompanying therapies" (undefinedLink) and a Lyme disease "Intensive Treatment and Rehabilitation Program" in the Day Medical Clinic (undefinedLink)for chronically ill patients.

A more sufficient tolerance of the antibiotics and a better effectiveness in fighting Borrelia bacteria and reducing pain can be gained with these accompanying therapies and a micro-nutrient-treatment (e.g. BCA Immune Package with selected dietary supplements during the antibiotic treatment).

Note:  Patients deciding against an antibiotic treatment can have an alternative therapy plan (e.g. based on Photon-Therapy in combination with natural remedies and other accompanying therapies).

Rehabilitation (undefinedLink):  The body's immune defense will be activated to restore and strengthen the immune system with an individual therapy in terms of the holistic treatment approach.  The BCB applies therapies from the complemetary medicine, naturopathic remedies, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and classical homeopathy.

From our experience chronic Lyme disease is curable in > 70% of all cases.  A long-term antibiosis is a "MUST" in most cases.  Supporting accompanying therapies and "self help" (undefinedLink) by the patient can improve the effect of the medication (usually antibiotics), strengthen the immune system, fight Borrelia bacteria effectively and reduce chronic inflammations.

The Day Medical Clinic with the "Intensive Treatment and Rehabilitation Program" (undefinedLink)over 5 days and longer is recommended to chronically ill and long-term illness patient (recommendation:  min. 2-3 weeks up to 4 months).  The therapists support/coach you with the usually necessary life style change (mental/excersising/nutrition).  If you should not habe the time to undergo a long-term treatment in the BCB, we will instruct you and your GP or attending physician how to proceed the therapy at home.

Aim of the holistic treatment is to help the patient become symptom-free and integrate into the private and professional environment.  We would like you to believe in a future without Lyme disease again.

Tick-borne diseases (Lyme disease in form of bacteria and TBE in form of a virus) have increased in the past years.

The unspecific symptoms/ailments of Lyme disease, such as fatigue, lack of energy, changing and travelling joint pain, neck and shoulder pain in thrusts, temporary headaches & dizziness, increase and become a real "burden" or even "handicap" for more and more people.

The initiator-team of the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg - the Reinsch Family from Blankenburg:  Manfred Reinsch (M.D., PhD, middle), Thilo Reinsch (left) and Katina Etlich (right).  The Reinsch Family is well know in the area with an innovative and service-orientated health and fitness club "RM Balance".

The experienced Lyme disease therapist and general practitioner Hans-Peter Gabel from Wolfenbüttel is the chief physician of the Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg.  He is an active member of the German Borreliosis Society e.V., co-founder of a patient support group in Wolfenbüttel and advisory member of the National Association for Tick-borne Diseases.

The Borreliose Centrum Blankenburg (BCB) treats according to the guidelines of the Borreliose Centrum Augsburg (BCA).  The founders of the BCA, Dr. Carsten Nicolaus and Dr. Armin Schwarzbach assisted the foundation of the BCB.  Both are active members of the ILADS (USA) and the German Borreliosis Society e.V.
